Wanyaoshu Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is at Wanyaoshu 10 km southeast of Luxi City, Yunnan. The Wanyaoshu Fm was named by Yunnan Party of Regional Geological Survey and Sheng Xinfu in 1963, and was published by Yunnan Compiling Group for Regional Stratigraphic Scale (1978).
Synonym: (弯腰树组)
Lithology and Thickness
The Wanyaoshu Fm is 10-12.8 m thick, and is composed dominantly of gray sandy mudstone and dark gray graptolite-bearing shale of relict sea basin setting (Yunnan Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, 1990).
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It rests disconformably on the variegated thin- to medium-bedded muddy siltstone of the Pupiao Fm or the gray medium-bedded sandy limestone intercalated with minor shale of the Mangjiu Fm
Upper contact
It is conformably or disconformably overlain by the Lower Silurian.
Regional extent
The Wanyaoshu Fm is restricted to Libala in Shidian and Wanyaoshu in Luxi, Yunnan. In Wanyaoshu, Luxi, the bottom of the Wanyaoshu is composed of sandy mudstone intercalated with many dark brown ferro-manganese streaks, and rests disconformably on the Pupiao Fm.
